Recycling Information
Recycling helps to reduce our impact on the environment by decreasing the amount of water, energy and new materials that we use to support our lifestyle. Making an aluminium can from recycled material, for example, uses 95% less energy than making one from raw material. Lowering energy use and therefore carbon emissions is one of many ways that recycling helps to tackle climate change.Over the festive season, Australians consume more, but by choosing wisely, minimising waste and recycling more we can minimise our impact on the environment.
The Recycling Factsheets below give detailed information on different packaging and materials. There are tips on reducing waste, how to recycle right, and the recycling process of each material. These factsheets have been produced for Planet Ark's National Recycling Week.
For further information on recycling services and collection points for these materials as well as many more items from furniture to e-waste, motor oil to eye glasses, visit RecyclingNearYou.com.au or call the National Recycling Hotline (1300 733 712).
